Rafael Nadal remains on track to defend his Argentina Open title after a straight-sets quarter-final victory over Paolo Lorenzi in Buenos Aires.
Nadal beat the 34-year-old Italian 7-6 (7/3) 6-2 to chalk up the 346th victory of his career on clay.
The Spaniard will face fifth seed Dominic Thiem in the semi-finals after the Austrian beat Dusan Lajovic 6-4 6-2 in an hour and 20 minutes.
And in the final match of the day a resurgent Nicolas Almagro beat Jo-Wilfried Tsonga for the first time in seven meetings with a 6-2 7-5 victory.
