British number two Aljaz Bedene defeated third seed Roberto Bautista Agut in the second round of the bet-at-home Open in Hamburg on Wednesday.
Bedene, currently ranked 67th in the world, beat the Spaniard 7-6 (7/2) 7-6 (9/7) to progress to the quarter-finals.
France's Lucas Pouille is also through to the last eight thanks to his 6-1 7-5 victory over Argentinian sixth seed Juan Monaco.
Uruguay's Pablo Cuevas defeated Argentina's Diego Schwartzman 7-6 (7/4) 6-4 in the first round while Czech Jiri Vesely is also through after coming from a set down to beat Austrian Andreas Haider-Maurer 3-6 6-1 6-0.
