Second seed Karin Knapp was in a hurry as she blew Anett Kontaveit away in just 46 minutes to make it into the quarter-finals of the Baku Cup.

Knapp totally dominated the Estonian's serve, breaking six times during the match, and although her own creaked at times she still romped to a near-perfect 6-1 6-0 winning margin.

The Italian world number 38 now faces Russian Alexandra Panova in the last eight.

Belgian Kirsten Flipkens was made to work much harder against seventh seed Vitalia Diatchenko.

Flipkens, who is ranked 86th and six places higher than the Russian, took an hour and 33 minutes to break down Diatchenko's resistance 6-4 7-6 (7/5).

Another Russian, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, now poses a much tougher prospect for her in a showdown for a place in the semi-finals.

Romanian Patricia Maria Tig edged a tense battle of the qualifiers 7-5 6-4 against Olga Savchuk, while Evgeniya Rodina eased past Oleksandra Korashvili 6-1 6-1.
