Karolina Pliskova needed just over an hour to brush aside Alize Cornet to win the final of the Brisbane International on Saturday.

The third-seeded Czech breezed through the opening set before completing a 6-0 6-3 victory in 66 minutes as France's Cornet failed to manufacture a single break point.

The victory earned Pliskova - who dropped just one set all week - her seventh WTA title and she will move into the top five of the world rankings.

Pliskova said at her presentation: " It's my third time here and I've enjoyed the whole week. I've been enjoying playing here and hopefully I'll be back next year."

There was also title success for Pliskova's compatriot Katerina Siniakova, who defeated American Alison Riske in the Shenzhen Open final.

Siniakova claimed her first career title in her third WTA final appearance after seeing off her eighth-seeded opponent 6-3 6-4.

Laura Davis also clinched her maiden tour title after winning the ASB Classic in Auckland.

The 23-year-old American downed eighth-seed Ana Konjuh 6-3 6-1 in 73 minutes to win a tournament where none of the top six seeds, including Serena Williams, made it past the quarter-finals.
