Caroline Garcia won the first Mallorca Open as Madison Keys claimed the Aegon Classic in Birmingham on Sunday.

France's Garcia beat Anastasija Sevastova 6-3 6-4 in Spain at the Santa Ponsa Tennis Club.

Sixth seed Garcia was broken in the first game but immediately hit back with a break of her own and broke Sevastova two more times in the first set.

The Latvian - who beat Jelena Jankovic in the semi-final after being hospitalised with a stomach virus on the first day - was more resilient in the second but could not make the breakthrough against the world number 39.

She was broken in the fifth game to allow Garcia to cruise to a comfortable victory hours after Keys had won her first title of 2016.

Victory over Barbora Strycova at the Edgbaston Priory Club moves the 21-year-old into the world's top 10 ahead of the start of Wimbledon later this month.

She won 6-3, 6-4 to claim her maiden Aegon Classic title following a rain-interrupted week in the Midlands.

Strycova was broken in her first service game and never recovered as Keys raced into a 3-0 lead before taking the first set 6-3.

She then survived four break points in the first game of the second set but Keys eventually ground her down with the scores locked at 4-4.

The American made the crucial break which allowed her to serve for the match.
