Britain's Kyle Edmund has been given a free pass into the quarter-finals at Queen's after his opponent Paul-Henri Mathieu pulled out injured.

Edmund had been due to face Mathieu at the Aegon Championships on Thursday but the Frenchman, who knocked out another Briton Dan Evans in the first round, has withdrawn with a wrist problem.

Fresh from beating world number 18 Gilles Simon on Wednesday - the best win of Edmund's career in terms of ranking - the 21-year-old will now face the winner of the all-British second round clash between Andy Murray and Aljaz Bedene.

It guarantees a first quarter-final match between two British players at Queen's since the start of the Open era.
