Britain could have four more players in the US Open main draw on Monday after Kyle Edmund, Brydan Klein, Johanna Konta and Naomi Broady moved one step closer to qualification.

The quartet all came through their second round qualifying matches on Thursday and are now one win away from entering round one at Flushing Meadows.

Edmund is bidding to play his fourth consecutive major tournament and the 20-year-old had little trouble in beating Argentinian Guido Andreozzi 6-3 6-4.

Joining him in round three of qualifying is Klein, who cruised to a 6-3 6-2 win over France's Tristan Lamasine, while in the women's draw Konta overcame Japan's Naomi Osaka 6-4 6-4 and Broady beat China's Ying-Ying Duan 6-4 7-6 (7/2).

It means Edmund will now play Japan's Yoshihito Nishioka on Friday and Klein faces Australian Matt Ebden.

Konta is up against Austrian Tamira Paszek for a place in the first round while standing in Broady's way is Estonia's Anett Kontaveit.

The prospective qualifiers are hoping to join the five British players already in the US Open main draw.

They include world number three Andy Murray, who will meet Australia's Nick Kyrgios in the first round, Aljaz Bedene, James Ward, Heather Watson and Laura Robson.
