Diego Schwartzman recorded the biggest win of his career to knock out top seed Bernard Tomic in the second round of the Istanbul Open.

Argentinian Schwartzman reached the semi-finals in Turkey 12 months ago and was once again on form in a 6-2 6-2 victory.

Third seed Ivo Karlovic finally recorded a first win of the season, beating Dusan Lajovic 7-6 (13/11) 7-6 (9/7).

The Croatian has been struggling with a knee problem and had not tasted victory since October.

Karlovic next meets Marcel Granollers in the quarter-finals after the fifth seed defeated Hyeon Chung 6-3 6-4, while Damir Dzumhur was a 6-3 5-7 6-3 winner over Illya Marchenko.
