Jan Mauda Hernych was born 7th July 1979 in Prague Czech Republic. He turned pro in 1998 and achieved his highest ranking of 60 on 4th July 2005. In 2006 he contested in his first final on the tour, losing to Mario Ancic in s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands.
In May 2009 at the BMW Open in Munich, Germany, he joined forces with countryman Ivo Minar to win their first title together in doubles.
