Wozniacki claims Montreal success

Caroline Wozniacki eased to a 6-3 6-2 victory over Vera Zvonareva in the rain-delayed final of the Rogers Cup in Montreal.

Both players made a wobbly start as they dropped serve but the 20-year-old Dane claimed a decisive break in the fourth game of the opening set to take it 6-3, before being similarly dominant in the second as she claimed two breaks of serve.

Wozniacki had earlier beaten Svetlana Kuznetsova in their semi-final.

Rain had halted the match at 2-0 to Wozniacki on Saturday afternoon, with the weather also putting paid to any hopes of play on Sunday.

But Wozniacki made short work of the tie when play resumed as she claimed a 6-2 6-3 win.

Zvonareva had seen off Victoria Azarenka when her opponent retired when 7-6 (8/6) 1-0 down due to a blister on her foot.
