Watson determined not to be Brit flop

Bubbly Heather Watson reached the second round of Wimbledon for the first time on Monday and insisted she has no intention of joining the depressing ranks of beaten Brits.
The 20-year-old defeated experienced Czech Republic player Iveta Benesova 6-2, 6-1 on Centre Court, becoming the host nation's only winner on the opening day.
After first round losses in 2010 and 2011, the world number 103 finally broke her duck at the All England Club to set up a second round clash with America's Jamie Hampton who put out Daniela Hantuchova, the 27th seeded Slovak.
"I'm very pleased with my first round win, but I'm not satisfied with just a first round. I'm looking forward to my next match," said Watson, the first British woman to win on Centre Court since 1985.
"I'm looking to go deep into the tournament and not settle for one win."
Meanwhile, Benesova found herself lambasted for using Twitter to take out her instant frustration at her defeat.
"F WORD GRASS!!!!!!!!" wrote the 29-year-old, just moments after coming off Centre Court where she had been comprehensively outplayed by the young Briton.
"Some of you guys may not like it, but what can I do," she then added.
"I prefer to say it out loud than to pretend smth! Plus Heather played awesome match."
Elsewhere on Monday, it was a traditional tale of woe for the host nation with Joshua Goodall and Oliver Golding losing in the men's singles and Naomi Broady exiting in the women's.
