Naomi Broady fought back from a set down to defeat Karin Knapp and reach the second round of the Katowice Open in Poland.

The British number three had a set point in the tie-break in the opener but it was Italian Knapp that took it.

However, an early break in the second set was the catalyst for Broady to level and the Stockport player, ranked six places lower than her opponent at 78, proved the stronger in the decider to win 6-7 (6/8) 6-4 6-4.

Broady used her big serve to good effect, winning 41 of 52 points in which she landed her first serve.

The 26-year-old will face either second seed Anna Karolina Schmiedlova or France's Pauline Parmentier in the second round.
