Kristina Mladenovic puts France level at 1-1 with Holland

French number one Kristina Mladenovic pulled her side level at 1-1 in their Fed Cup World Group semi-final clash with Holland in Trelaze with a straight sets win over Richel Hogenkamp.

Kiki Bertens had put the visitors 1-0 up with a 6-4 6-2 defeat of Caroline Garcia, but Mladenovic ensured honours were even with a 6-2 6-4 triumph over Hogenkamp.

In the other semi-final Switzerland were tied at 1-1 with the Czech Republic after Viktorija Golubic marked her Fed Cup debut with a fantastic comeback to upset Karolina Pliskova.

The world number 129 was a set and 4-2 down to a player ranked 18 in the world, but battled back to win 3-6 6-4 6-4 in two hours and 16 minutes to level the tie in Lucerne.

Barbora Strycova had earlier taken a little over an hour to put the Czechs ahead with a 6-0 6-2 defeat of Timea Bacsinszky.

In the World Group play-offs Spain led Italy 2-0 in Lleida after Garbine Muguruza won 7-6 (7/4) 6-0 against Francesca Schiavone and Carla Suarez Navarro beat Roberta Vinci 6-1 6-1.

The United States also led 2-0 after dominating in Brisbane against Australia. Madison Keys was a 6-4 6-2 winner against Daria Gavrilova and Christina McHale defeated Samantha Stosur 3-6 6-1 7-5.

In the other ties in the group Russia were level at 1-1 with Belarus and it was the same score between Romania and Germany.

Russia's Darya Kasatkina put the hosts ahead in Moscow with a 6-3 3-6 6-1 win over Aliaksanda Sasnovich before Victoria Azarenka triumphed 6-2 6-3 against Margarita Gasparyan.

In the World Group II play-offs Slovakia led Canada 2-0 in Bratislava after wins for Dominika Cibulkova and Anna Karolina Schmiedlova.

Ukraine were 2-0 leaders against Argentina in Kiev following victories for Kateryna Bondarenko and Lesia Tsurenko.

Yania Wickmayer drew Belgium level at 1-1 in Belgrade after Serbia had taken the lead through Aleksandra Krunic.

Chinese Taipei had led in Inowroclaw through Hsu Ching-wen before Magdalena Frech's victory drew Poland level.
