Keothavong on song in Memphis

Anne Keothavong reached the quarter-finals of the WTA Cellular South Cup in Memphis on Wednesday with an emphatic victory over Portuguese player Michelle Larcher de Brito.

The 26-year-old, who briefly broke into the world's top 50 last season before her season was ended early by a knee injury, was dominant against Larcher De Brito and won 6-3 6-1.

Although the early stages of the match suggested a tight battle, Keothavong stepped up her performance and was eventually cruising.

Keothavong was commanding on serve and fired down six aces, with the result suggesting she is ready to return to the top 100, having lost points during her six-month spell on the sidelines.

She will face Croatia's Karolina Sprem for a place in the semi-finals. Sprem beat her fellow Croatian Ajla Tomljanovic in three sets.
