Irina-Camelia Begu claimed a third WTA title as she beat Timea Babos in three sets to lift the Brasil Tennis Cup.

The Romanian, seeded second, came from behind to win 2-6 6-4 6-3, making it the perfect preparation for the Olympics.

She told the WTA website: "During the match I didn't start really well - I was a little bit tense and focusing too much on the negative rather than the positive things I was doing. Then I realized I had to make the most of the situation, if the forehand wasn't working I needed to use the backhand more.

"I think it was more mental because I really wanted to win the title."

Babos, who was just two games away from victory, does not have long to get over defeat as she plays on Saturday in the Olympics.

She added: "It was a difficult final emotionally, especially as I felt I had it in my hands, then only at the end I realise I've lost."

Meanwhile, Vania King, Misa Eguchi, Risa Ozaki and Ying-Ying Duan all booked their place in the semi-final of the Jiangxi Women's Tennis Open in China.
