Both Heather Watson and Naomi Broady were beaten in the final round of qualifying at the Madrid Open.
Broady, whose least favourite surface is clay, put up a good fight against Monica Puig but could not capitalise on winning the first set and went down 3-6 6-3 6-3.
Watson was earlier beaten 7-6 (7/4) 6-2 by Croatia's Mirjana Lucic-Baroni.
The result was a disappointing one for the British number two, who needs positive results over the next month to ensure she qualifies for the Rio Olympics.
