Defending champion Johanna Larsson continued her good form to reach the quarter-finals of the Ericsson Open in Bastad after a straight sets victory over Sara Sorribes Tormo.

The home favourite eased past the Spanish qualifier 6-0 6-3 to make it seven straight matches in the tournament without dropping a set, dating back to 2014.

Larsson told wtatennis.com: "I try to just focus on my own thing and it's a very tough match coming up in the quarters so I'm just looking forward to that one."

She will be facing the fourth seed Annika Beck, who won in just 48 minutes to beat Latvia's Anastasija Sevastova 6-2 6-0.

The top seed in the competition, Angelique Kerber, pulled out before her match with Spain's Lara Arruabarrena due to an elbow injury sustained in her first-round match against Cornelia Lister.

In the match of the day, Julia Goerges made it three straight wins over Bethanie Mattek-Sands to make the last eight in Sweden.

The world number 73 had to come from a set down against the American, losing the opener to the 106th-ranked player. But the German fought back to win 2-6 6-4 6-2 to go ahead in the head-to-head record by four wins to three, including the last two on clay.
