Seeded Katerina Siniakova was knocked out of the Nurnberger Gastein Ladies on Monday following a straight-sets defeat to Danka Kovinic.
The 19-year-old eighth-seeded Czech slipped to a 6-4 6-4 loss to her opponent from Montenegro in a match lasting an hour and 26 minutes on Court One.
In the only other first-round match taking place in Austria on Monday, Klara Koukalova of Czech Republic advanced from her tie against Anna-Lena Friedsam, who retired injured during the second set.
With the match score 6-1 4-0 in F riedsam's favour after 42 minutes, the 21-year-old German had to pull out due to ankle problems as Koukalova moved into round two.
