Caroline Wozniacki plays it straight to take Tokyo win

Top seed Caroline Wozniacki eased past teenager Ana Konjuh with a straight-sets victory to reach the quarter-finals at the Toray Pan Pacific Open on Wednesday.

Danish player Wozniacki, champion at this Tokyo tournament in 2010 and runner-up last year, saw off 17-year-old Croatian Konjuh 6-2 6-2 to advance in Japan and set up a last-eight clash with Angelique Kerber.

Fifth seed and 2013 runner-up Kerber of Germany fought back from a set down to defeat American Madison Brengle 5-7 6-1 6-0.

In the first match of the day on Centre Court, third-seeded Spaniard Garbine Muguruza saw off Barbora Strycova of the Czech Republic with a 6-3 6-4 straight-sets victory in an hour and 45 minutes.

Elsewhere, Belinda Bencic of Switzerland - seeded eighth - moved past Austria's Samantha Stosur with a 6-7 (5/7) 6-3 6-4 success to reach the last eight where she faces Muguruza.
