Covers on at Wimbledon for the first time

Weather hit Wimbledon for the first time in 2016 late in the afternoon on the second day.

British number one Andy Murray had just wrapped up his first-round clash on Centre Court with Liam Broady with a straight-sets win when the covers were brought on.

At that point it was just a precaution ahead of forecast rain, which arrived at 4.30pm.

Play on all courts was swiftly suspended, with the likes of Johanna Konta and Dominic Thiem amongst those midway through matches.

The roof was then closed on Centre, meaning Caroline Wozniacki's clash with Svetlana Kuznetsova could begin.
