27 problems only tennis players will understand

It’s week two of Wimbledon and tennis players all over the country will be able to relate to Nick Kyrgios’s racket-flinging or Heather Watson’s heartbreak.

Here are the daily problems you’ll only get if you also play tennis (for real, not just having a rally every now and again and thinking you’re Novak).

1. Your disproportionate muscles.

2. The weird tan lines.

3. Especially when it looks like you’re constantly wearing socks.

4. When you forget how to play tennis.

5. And you be like…

6. The awkward moment when your opponent is losing the plot.

7. The emotional ups and downs.

8. The fact that everyone thinks they can play.

9. When your racket inexplicably escapes.

10. And when it receives the brunt of your frustrations.

11. When the ball decides to laugh at you.

12. Or really embarrass you.

13. Trying to explain tennis scoring to someone who just doesn’t get it.

14. The frustration of losing to someone you shouldn’t be.

15. When a warm-up for you is like a grand slam final for the person you’re playing.

16. Your inner monologue when your opponent is serving for the game or set.

17. But when you do one yourself…

18. How your skills can be weirdly unpredictable.

19. When you play after having a break and feel like a total idiot with a racket.

20. Ridiculous self-inflicted injuries.

21. Blaming your equipment.

22. Getting a shot way too close for comfort.

23. When your opponent is taking the mick.

24. Trying to look on fleek when you’re covered in bruises.

25. Early morning training.

26. Needing to own this many balls so you’re not running around the court collecting all the time.

27. Being a tennis terminology snob.
