Biography

Varvara Lepchenko was born May 21st 1986 in Tashkent, Soviet Union (now Uzbekistan) her highest WTA rank is number 84 on October 2nd 2006.

In September 2007, it was revealed that Lepchenko had become a U.S. citizen and that she is going to represent the United States in Women's Tennis Association tournaments. Lepchenko and her family, whose Russian - Ukrainian heritage made them a target of persecution in their homeland, were granted political asylum by the United States. They have lived in the U.S. for more than five years.
