Alberto Martin Magret was born August 20th 1978 in Barcelona, and turned professional in 1995. He reached a career high singles ranking of 34 in 2001, but as of October 2007 had fallen out of the top 100 in the ATP rankings. He has earned more than $3,500,000 in prize money, having won three singles titles and three doubles titles.
Martin has the sad distinction of having suffered the heaviest defeat in the history of the Australian Open. Andy Murray beat him in the first round of the 2007 tournament, 6-0 6-0 6-1. In fact, Martin had to wait until the penultimate game of the match before winning his only game.
