Japan's Nishikori out of Paris Masters

Date published : 01 Nov 2012 - 12:17:16

Japanese 15th seed Kei Nishikori was forced to withdraw before his third-round match at the Paris Masters on Thursday due to a right ankle injury.

The pull-out gives unseeded Frenchman Gilles Simon a quarter-final place at the Bercy arena, where he will play the winner from fifth seed Tomas Berdych and South African Kevin Anderson.

It marked only the second injury withdrawal for Nishikori, winner of the Japan Open last month. He also withdrew hurt in the first set of a Barcelona quarter-final in April against Fernando Verdasco.
