Hewitt, Blake among US Open wild cards

Former US Open champion Lleyton Hewitt, US veteran James Blake and Frenchman Guillaume Rufin were among eight wild card entries named to the US Open field on Tuesday by the US Tennis Association.
Former World No. 1 Hewitt, 31, captured the 2001 US Open title and 2002 Wimbledon crowns among 28 career singles crowns while Rufin, 22, reached the second round at Wimbledon this year and is ranked a career-best 127th.
Blake, 32, reached the last eight in the 2005 and 2006 US Opens and has taken 10 ATP career titles to lead six US wild cards in the field.
Others given a pass into the draw by the US sport governing body include reigning US college singles champion Steve Johnson, 100th-ranked Rajeev Ram, 2010 US Open boys winner Jack Sock and runner-up Denis Kudla and Russian-born reigning USTA boys singles champion Dennis Novikov.
