Djokovic set to sit out the Australian Tour warm up events

Date published : 27 Nov 2012 - 10:02:22

World Number 1 Novak Djokovic, who ended the 2012 season by winning the World Tour Finals, has opted out of appearing at the ATP tournaments leading up to the Australian Open in January, where he will defend his title.

Instead, the Serb will play the Mubadala World Tennis Championship, an exhibition tournament in Abu Dhabi, at the end of this year and then the Hopman Cup in Perth, alongside Ana Ivanovic.

(The Hopman Cup, a mixed team competition, is not an ATP Tour event.)

Djokovic will also play in the Davis Cup for Serbia in a tie against Belgium in early February before appearing at Dubai, Indian Wells, and Miami.

The 25-year-old has not released his scheduled beyond the first three months of the year.
