Jimmy Connors congratulated Roger Federer on Tuesday for equalling his Grand Slam match record of 233 wins.

Federer pulled level with Connors' long-standing mark when he beat Germany's Tomas Kamke at the French Open on Monday.

That took the 16-time Grand Slam title winner to 233-35 lifetime at the majors and with a chance to set the new record when he faces Adrian Ungur of Romania on Wednesday.

"Nice work Roger on tying my GS record for match wins, looks like I should have played a few more majors! Great career, keep it up," Connors wrote on his Twitter account.

Federer had said he does have another Connors record to break -- the American's mark of 109 career titles. The great Swiss currently has 74.
