Serbia Open
The Serbia Open is an ATP World Tour 250 series tournament held in Belgrade, Serbia. The event was held for the first time in 2009 and is played on outdoor clay courts. It is a first for Serbia, as the country never before hosted an ATP or a WTA tournament.
The tournament is hosted by top Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic. His family purchased the ATP Tour date from the organizers of the Dutch Open, paid for the plot of land where the venue was built, and convinced the Serbian government to support the event. His uncle Goran is tournament director.
