CHENNAI OPEN TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Chennai Open, which has also been known as the Tata Open and the Gold Flake Open is held annually in January at the SDAT Tennis Stadium in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. The event is played on outdoor hard courts and is part of the ATP World Tour 250 series of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) World Tour.

Australian Open

The Chennai Open has been India's largest tennis event since 1997 attracting some of the best names in tennis circuit. The tournament comprises of two events - the Men's Singles and the Men's Doubles and carries a total prize money of $450,000.

The Men's Singles event has 32 players, which includes 3 wild cards and 4 qualifiers and the Men's Doubles event features 16 teams. The event is usually held in the first week of January and is co-sponsored by the Tamil Nadu Government, who has set up a consortium of sponsors to ensure that the event is an annual feature in Chennai.
