Yannick Noah has been appointed for a third stint as France's Davis Cup captain.

Noah replaces Arnaud Clement, who left his post on Friday. He will be officially unveiled at a press conference on Tuesday.

A statement from the French Tennis Federation (FFT) read: "At the behest of the president of the French Tennis Federation, Jean Gachassin, and the national technical director, Arnaud Di Pasquale, the federal bureau of the FFT today named Yannick Noah as captain of the France Davis Cup team for the 2016 campaign."

The 55-year-old will be looking to replicate the success of his previous two spells in charge, which saw him lead his country to the title in both 1991 and 1996.

As a player, he won the 1983 French Open and achieved the world number one ranking in 1986.

He played in the 1982 Davis Cup final in which France lost 4-1 to the United States, their one point coming when Noah beat Gene Mayer 6-0 6-1 in a dead rubber. He also lost in five sets to John McEnroe, who then teamed up with Peter Fleming to beat Noah and Henri Leconte in doubles.
