Spain to face Canada in Davis Cup 2013 opener

Defending Davis Cup champions Spain were on Wednesday drawn to play Canada in the first round of next year's competition, while fellow finalists the Czech Republic take on Switzerland.

The draw also sees 2012 semi-finalists Argentina play Germany and the United States face Brazil in the matches that begin on February 1 next year.

Defeated quarter-finalists France play Israel, Croatia are up against Italy while Serbia play Belgium.

Spain, who beat Argentina in Buenos Aires last year to take the title, take on the Czechs in this year's final in November. It will be the country's fourth appearance in the Davis Cup final in the last five years.

Canada v Spain.

Italy v Croatia

Belgium v Serbia

United States v Brazil

France v Israel

Argentina v Germany

Kazakhstan v Austria

Switzerland v Czech Republic
