Serbia in charge against USA

Serbia moved to the brink of a famous Davis Cup victory over USA as Victor Troicki and Novak Djokovic posted singles wins on day one of their World Group tie.
Troicki toppled 6ft 9in world number 20 John Isner 7-6 (7/4) 6-7 (5/7) 7-5 6-4 in the opening rubber before Djokovic recorded a more expected win over Sam Querrey to give the hosts a 2-0 lead in Belgrade.
The world number two was given a battle, though, before eventually prevailing 6-2 7-6 (7/4) 2-6 6-3.
USA are now relying on top doubles team Bob and Mike Bryan winning Saturday's rubber to keep the tie alive.
David Ferrer drew reigning champions Spain level at 1-1 with Switzerland by beating Marco Chiudinelli 6-2 7-6 (7/5) 6-1.
In the first rubber, Stanislas Wawrinka had put the visitors ahead with a hard-fought 3-6 6-4 3-6 7-5 6-3 victory over Nicolas Almagro in Logrono.
