Top seed Stan Wawrinka breezed into the third round of the Miami Open with a straight-sets win over Horacio Zeballos.

The Swiss converted both break points he earned to go 3-1 up in the first set and then then 2-0 in the second and he dropped just two points on his first serve in the 6-3 6-4 victory in 65 minutes.

"I'm really happy with the match today," Wawrinka told reporters. "I think it was a great match, especially for first one here for me. It's quite tough conditions, raining and really windy today. It's really windy on the court, so it's never easy. I'm happy with the way I was moving, the way I was playing and my attitude in general was really positive. So it's a great match.

"I'm playing better tennis. I feel that I'm playing good here. I took the confidence from Indian Wells. So let's see. When I'm playing well, when I am confident with my game, I know I can beat anybody."

Wawrinka will face Malek Jaziri in the third round after he came through the clash with Feliciano Lopez with a 6-3 4-6 6-3 victory.

Wawrinka's compatriot Roger Federer put on a serving masterclass on his way to a 7-6 (7/2) 6-3 win over Frances Tiafoe.

The two-time champions won 20 consecutive service points in the first set as he continued his impressive form in 2017 with a 14th win from 15 matches.

Number 22 seed Sam Querrey needed less than an hour to see off Tommy Robredo 6-2 6-3, while Nick Kyrgios also made comfortable progress, beating Damir Dzumhur 6-4 6-3.

Alexander Zverev coasted past Yen-Hsun Lu with a 6-0 6-3 win and faces John Isner next following the American's 7-5 7-6 (7/5) win over Thomaz Bellucci.

David Goffin overcame Darian King 7-5 6-1. Ivo Karlovic beat Andrey Kuznetsov but the 27th-seeded David Ferrer crashed out following a 6-2 6-3 defeat to Diego Schwartzman.

Dominc Thiem was another seed to suffer, going down 6-1 7-5 to Borna Coric.

Juan Martin Del Potro eased past Robin Haase 6-2 6-4, while there were also wins for Tomas Berdych, Gilles Muller and Adrian Mannarino.
