Soderling through to quarter-finals in Marseille

Sweden's Robin Soderling fought back from a set down to see off the challenge of Sergiy Stakhovsky and claim a place in the quarter-finals of the Open 13 in Marseille.

The top seed lost the opening set to his Ukrainian opponent on a closely-fought tie-break, but recovered to well to post a 6-7 (5/7) 6-3 6-4 victory.

Third seed Gael Monfils also dropped a set in his second-round meeting with Andreas Seppi but delighted his home crowd by eventually progressing with a 7-6 (7/4) 3-6 7-6 (7/3) win.

French compatriot Guillaume Rufin also advanced, beating Belgian Yannick Mertens 6-3 2-6 6-2 to set up a last-eight contest with Mischa Zverev of Germany.

Lucky loser Illya Marchenko continued his impressive run, reaching the last eight with a 6-1 3-6 6-2 win over Olivier Rochus.
