Nicolas Almagro strolls into second round in Argentina

Former champion Nicolas Almagro eased into the second round of the Argentina Open in Buenos Aires with a 6-3 6-3 victory over Albert Montanes.

The 30-year-old saved all four break points he faced and sent down 11 aces to claim just his second win of the year.

Diego Schwartzman delighted the home crowd as he upset seventh seed Alexandr Dolgopolov with a 5-7 6-4 6-3 triumph, while Colombia's Santiago Giraldo saw off Spain's Inigo Cervantes 6-1 7-5.

In the day's final game, Leonardo Mayer recovered from a set down to beat Guido Pella 2-6 6-3 6-3.
