Murray will win a slam - Rusedski

Former British number one Greg Rusedski believes there is no doubt that Andy Murray will win a grand slam title.

The Scot was defeated 6-3 6-4 7-6 (13-11) by world number one Roger Federer in Sunday's Australian Open final after a superb fortnight that saw him drop just one set on his way to the final in Melbourne.

Rusedski said: "Federer is currently 28 and further on in his career and Andy has shown he can beat the likes of (Marin) Cilic, (Rafael) Nadal and (Juan Martin) del Potro regularly, so if he keeps progressing he is going to win a slam."

Rusedski's view is shared by Pat Rafter, the man who beat him in the 1997 US Open final.

"Murray will win one - it's a question of when, not if," said the Australian.

"It could happen at any time. He's comfortable on most surfaces and he's a fantastic player. He could win Wimbledon. It's just a matter of if he can deal with the pressure of playing in the UK."
