Murray in focus

Andy Murray sailed through to the Wimbledon third round on Thursday with a 6-1 6-1 6-4 victory over Holland's Robin Haase.

Murray was in excellent form against the world number 78, following up his 6-4 7-6 (7/3) 6-4 first round win over Mikhail Kukushkin, with another dominant display.

Here, Press Association Sport, takes a closer look at Murray's performance so far.

Serve: 5/10

Murray's serve is yet to hit top gear and it let him down badly during the second set against Kukushkin. His first serve percentage against Haase was only 57 per cent and he will need to push that number up against more clinical opponents.

Ground-shots: 8/10

Murray was on the back-foot for much of the contest against Kukushkin but he stepped forward more against Haase, taking the ball earlier and dictating the rallies. His forehand was a potent weapon and an instinctive backhand pass in the first set was one of the highlights of the match.

Net play: 6/10

In both victories, Murray won the majority of points he approached the net but the Scot could still be braver in moving forward when he is on top in rallies. His touch and feel are great strengths, and he could exploit them more to his advantage.

Movement: 9/10

Murray's powers of retrieval are virtually unparalleled in the men's game and both Kukushkin and Haase were often forced to play one more shot than they would have liked. Murray's speed and fitness, particularly in hot conditions, have been very impressive.

Body language: 8/10

Occasions when Murray has felt under real pressure have been few and far between so far but the 28-year-old has maintained a positive demeanour on court and avoided the temper tantrums that have hindered him in the past. He appears to have cut down on the swearing too.

Efficiency: 9/10

Two straight-sets victories have taken less than four hours to complete and, barring a second-set wobble against Kukushkin, Murray has been as clinical as he could have hoped. Expending as little energy as possible in the early rounds will stand him in good stead for tougher tests to come.

Overall: 8/10

Murray has not been at his scintillating best in either victories so far, but he has not had to be, while a more aggressive display against Haase should give him confidence going into round three.
