Lucas Pouille saw off third seed Federico Delbonis to book his place in the first ATP Tour final of his career at the BRD Nastase Tiriac Trophy in Bucharest.

The 22-year-old triumphed 7-6 (7/4) 6-3 to secure victory in 98 minutes and end the recent good form of Delbonis, who won the title in Marrakech a fortnight ago.

In the final Pouille will face Spaniard Fernando Verdasco, who ended the reign of defending champion Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-3 3-6 6-2.

Verdasco dominated his compatriot's second serve and seized one of five break-point opportunities in the opening set to establish an advantage.

Despite succumbing to a Garcia-Lopez fightback in the second, Verdasco stepped it up in the decider with two breaks as he eased to victory in just under two hours.
