Second seed Kevin Anderson is through to the quarter-finals of the Winston-Salem Open after seeing off 2014 runner-up Jerzy Janowicz on Wednesday night.

Anderson was a 7-6 (7/2) 6-4 winner over Janowicz, who beat last year's champion Lukas Rosol in a rematch of the 2014 final on Tuesday.

Anderson hit 17 aces and saved three break points on the way to victory.

"I was really pleased with today's performance," Anderson said on the ATP website. "It was an improvement from yesterday. I served well today, which was the big goal. I took care of my own service games.

"When you're playing a big server like Jerzy that's one of the most important aspects. I felt I was patient in my returns. I didn't return the best, but when it counted I made some returns and it was an overall good performance.

Anderson will next face 18-year-old Borna Coric, who raced through his own third round contest as he beat Diego Schwartzmann 6-2 6-1 in under an hour.

Sixth seed Thomaz Bellucci beat number 11 Jiri Vesely 6-1 6-7 (7/9) 6-4 to set up a meeting with Malek Jaziri, who was a 7-5 6-4 winner against number 15 Teymuraz Gabashvili.

Third seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is out, beaten 6-3 4-6 7-6 (7/4) by number 13 Steve Johnson. Johnson will now face Yen-Hsun Lu, a 7-6 (7/1) 1-6 7-5 winner over Hyeon Chung.

Qualifier Pierre-Hugues Herbert reached the last eight with a 6-3 6-0 win over Aljaz Bedene, while Pablo Carreno Busta beat Simone Bolelli 6-4 4-6 6-1.
