Juan Martin Del Potro reaches Munich Open quarter-finals

Juan Martin Del Potro reached his second ATP World Tour quarter-final of the season at the Munich Open.

The Argentinian, who is on the comeback trail after long-term wrist problems, defeated Jan-Lennard Struff 6-2 3-6 6-3 in the second round.

Del Potro, who made the last four at his first event for a year in Delray Beach in February, next meets fourth seed Philipp Kohlschreiber, who was a 6-3 6-2 winner over fellow German Florian Mayer.

Top seed David Goffin was given a stern test by Victor Estrella Burgos but came through 5-7 6-3 6-2 for his 19th match win of the season.

In the last eight he will play teenager Alexander Zverev, who beat Lukas Rosol 6-3 6-4.

Fifth seed Fabio Fognini saw off Mikhail Kukushkin 6-3 7-5 to set up a meeting with Jozef Kovalik, who took full advantage of his lucky loser spot with a 6-3 6-4 win over Igor Sijsling.
