Stan Wawrinka became the first major casualty of the men's draw at Wimbledon as he lost in the second round to Juan Martin del Potro.
Wawrinka is the fourth seed and came up against a player who is comfortably better than his world ranking of 165.
The 2009 US Open champion, Del Potro has been beset by injuries almost ever since that victory and this was his first Wimbledon since 2013.
On form here, though, the Argentinian is a high-ranking seed in all but name and it was Wawrinka's misfortune to run into him at the last-64 stage, losing 3-6 6-3 7-6 (7/2) 6-3.
Few will begrudge Del Potro this win. A player who beat Roger Federer at the height of his dominance in that 2009 final, he will now hope that his long injury nightmare is firmly behind him.
"My hands are shaking. I feel alive," Del Potro said afterwards.
"I was so happy on court. It's like my second or third career in my short life. I was really sad at home for the last two years.
"I like to share moments with the crowd. They support me on every single point and that's why I keep fighting in every single set."
