Jo-Wilfried Tsonga races to victory in Buenos Aires

Third seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga wasted little time in surging into the Argentina Open quarter-finals with a comfortable straight-sets win over Leonardo Mayer in Buenos Aires.

Tsonga broke twice in the first set to take it 6-1 in just 25 minutes and was equally dominant in the second with another double break to take it 6-2 and wrap up victory in less than an hour.

Tsonga will meet Nicolas Almagro in the last eight after he beat Argentine Federico Delbonis 6-3 4-6 6-4.

Dusan Lajovic sent fourth seed John Isner home with a 7-6 (12/10) 4-6 7-6 (8/6) victory, while Dominic Thiem, the number five seed, came from a set down to beat qualifier Gastao Elias 3-6 7-6 (9/7) 6-3.
