Joao Sousa eliminated from Grand Prix Hassan II

Second seed Joao Sousa was eliminated from the Grand Prix Hassan II in Marrakech on Wednesday after losing to Facundo Bagnis in straight sets.

Sousa, who has now won just two of his past 10 games on the tour since Andy Murray defeated him at the Australian Open, was beaten 6-2 6-4 in 70 minutes.

Third seed Borna Coric was able to advance to the quarter-finals without even playing a shot as Simone Bolelli withdrew from the tournament because of a knee injury.

Elsewhere, Albert Montanes defeated fellow Spaniard Daniel Gimeno-Traver 6-4 6-4, Paul-Henri Mathieu progressed past qualifier Maximo Gonzalez courtesy of a 7-6 (7/4) 6-0 triumph and seventh seed Pablo Carreno Busta was a 6-2 6-3 victor over Evgeny Donskoy.
