Uzbekistan's Denis Istomin claimed his first ATP World Tour title with a tight win over Sam Querrey at the Aegon Open in Nottingham.

Istomin claimed a 7-6 (7/1) 7-6 (8/6) victory against the American 12th seed having lost four of the pair's last five matches.

The 28-year-old saved two break points to lead 5-4 in the first set and then cruised through the tie-break 7-1 with aid of two double faults from his opponent.

The world number 92 surged to a 5-2 lead in the second set but was broken twice while serving for the match - at 5-2 and 5-4 - and Querrey saved a match point en route to forcing another tie-break.

Querrey won five of the first six points only for Istomin to claim seven of the last eight for victory.
