Gonzalez remains untroubled

Fernando Gonzalez continued to advance through the Movistar Open with minimal fuss as he beat qualifier Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo 6-4 6-3.

The top seed - born and raised in Santiago, where the event is being staged - dropped only three games as he beat Oscar Hernandez in 59 minutes in round one.

And he needed only 10 minutes longer to see off his second Spanish opponent and set up a third-round clash with a third, Marcel Granollers.

World number 112 Granollers beat Poland's Lukasz Kubot - the first-round conqueror of fifth seed Horacio Zeballos - 6-4 6-2 to advance.

Alberto Martin was another Spaniard to qualify, courtesy of a 6-3 6-4 win over Brazilian Ricardo Mello, but Pere Riba lost 6-4 6-4 to Joao Souza.
