Britain's Oliver Golding advanced to the second round of the junior US Open with a 7-6 6-3 victory over Spain's Andres Artunedo Martinavarr on Sunday.
Golding, who reached the semi-finals of the juniors at Wimbledon earlier this year, won the crucial tie-break 11-9 and broke early in the second set on his way to an impressive win on Court 15.
The 16-year-old Londoner, who won a gold medal in the recent Youth Olympics in Singapore in the boys' doubles, will face American Mitchell Frank - the 16th seed - in the second round.
