Viktor Troicki's winning run in Sydney was brought to an end by Gilles Muller in the semi-finals of the Apia International.

The Serbian had won his last 13 matches at the tournament, claiming the title in 2015 and 2016, but big-serving Muller pulled off a 6-3 7-6 (8/6) victory.

The Luxembourg player will now bid to win his first ATP Tour title at the sixth attempt when he takes on surprise package Dan Evans.

The unseeded British number three followed up a maiden top-10 win over Dominic Thiem in the quarter-finals by beating Russia's Andrey Kuznetsov 6-2 3-6 6-3 to reach his first tour level final.

At the ASB Classic in Auckland, Jack Sock won the battle of the Americans against Steve Johnson 6-4 6-3 to reach the final.

There he will play Portugal's Joao Sousa, who saw off eighth seed Marcos Baghdatis 6-1 7-5.
