World number one Novak Djokovic announced on Wednesday that his wife Jelena had given birth to the couple's first child, a boy named Stefan.
"We are delighted to announce that Jelena Djokovic gave birth to a wonderful, healthy and a lovely boy, called Stefan. The birth went in the best possible manner, baby and the mother feel well," the Serb announced on his website.
The Wimbledon champion added that he would spend "several days with the baby and wife Jelena" before travelling to Paris for next week's final Masters Series event of the year.
Djokovic is the defending champion in the French capital and a strong tournament will increase his chances of ending the year at the head of the rankings, resisting the challenge of Roger Federer.
