Denis Kudla comes from behind to sink Mischa Zverev in Houston tournament

Denis Kudla battled back from a set down to move into the second round of the US Men's Clay Court Championship in Houston with a 3-6 7-6 (7/2) 7-6 (7/2) win over Mischa Zverev.

Zverev was a break up at 4-2 in the deciding set but the American battled back to earn a match point at 6-5, which Zverev saved to force the tie-break.

But Kudla won five straight points to earn himself another five match points and cashed in on the third one to close out the match in two hours and 31 minutes.

Hyeon Chung sent down seven aces on his way to a 6-4 6-7 (5/7) 6-0 victory over veteran Dominican Victor Estrella Burgos.

And in the final match of the day, Juan Monaco came through a tough match in just under two-and-a-half hours against Gerald Melzer with a 6-2 6-7 (3/7) 6-4 triumph.
