Defending champion Marin Cilic eased into the quarter-finals of the Zagreb Indoors on Thursday at the expense of Austria's Daniel Koellerer.
The top-seeded Croatian, who reached the Australian Open semi-finals last week, ran out a 6-2 6-1 winner to set up a meeting with compatriot Ivo Karlovic.
Karlovic, the seventh seed, had a trickier time on court against French qualifier Alexandre Sidorenko before claiming a 7-6 (7/4) 7-6 (10/8) result in their second-round match.
Second seed Ivan Ljubicic saw his Zagreb challenge ended by Lukas Lacko, the Slovakian grinding out a 7-6 (7/3) 5-7 7-6 (7/5) win.
Number six seed Benjamin Becker also bowed out of the tournament, throwing away a one-set lead to succumb 1-6 7-6 (7/4) 7-6 (8/6) to German countryman Philipp Petzschner.
Michael Berrer of Germany advanced to the last eight with a straightforward 6-4 6-3 victory over local wild card Petar Jelenic.
